It's not a new thing, but it probably started with the Krispy Kreme in Johnson City, TN. Best old fashioned donuts on the planet. I preferred them to the glazed unless of course the glazed were fresh from the oven. Nothing can beat a hot donut!
Unfortunately, Dunkin' Donuts reigns supreme in Massachusetts. Honestly, their donuts are patooie. It can vary from location to location, but I find they are greasy and leave an unpleasant coating on your tongue. If you're in Mass, go to your local donut shops and ignore the chains. That's where you'll find a little bit of heaven! There's Demet's Donuts in Medford, Betty Ann Food Shop in East Boston, Kane's Donuts in Saugus & Twin DO-nuts in Allston! Want more?
