What I'm NOT Buying at The Body Shop

I'm trying to limit purchases right now, but I keep finding great deals! I add things to a hypothetical cart and say no-no-NO. My will power is mighty strong right now. Today, I shopped The Body Shop. Everything was only $50! How did that work out? There's a special on Spring 2011 make-up -- 3 for $30. The eye palette is normally $24! The almond oil nail & cuticle treatment is normally $12, but it's on sale for $5! I love that stuff. If you spend $50, you get a free Spa Wisdom item and I chose the monoi balm, which retails for $24! I love their body butters, so I can only imagine this one is just as great. The brush roll is a special for $15!

Since I can't convince my fiancĂ© to splurge on this for me, I'll just have to pass on it. :(

Bath & Body Works

In my tween years, I remember being mesmerized by Bath & Body Works. In every single mall, no matter what state I was in at the time, it was there. My family and I always seemed to stop in to enjoy the great smelling lotions and to browse the candles in the adjoining White Barn Candle Company. Now those stores are one, but they can't help but lure me in again & again.

They used to have a fun & colorful collection for kids. I remember testing out the bath foam and my little sister (now 22!) still owns a really great blue glitter polish from the collection.

They have definitely narrowed down their collection and it somehow still feels just as intimidating as it did all of those  years ago.

I abandoned my love of the store many moons ago, I just wasn't interested in the products. I was too busy lusting after Lush Cosmetics, but recently, Bath & Body Works has won me back. I keep getting free coupons and I have recently joined their BBW club and the more I try out these products, the more I fall in love with the scents. I gave up trying to avoid a lot of nasty chemicals, because my hands are constantly dry if I use only natural products. Bath & Body Works doesn't test on animals, so I feel like they could be a lot more evil.

Here is my recent haul. I only paid for 3 of those lotions!

Blockbuster Liquidation

Our local Blockbuster is going out of business, so we grabbed some DVDs and video games. Here's what we got:

NYX Cosmetics

I just made my first nyxcosmetics.com purchase yesterday. I had previously ordered NYX from cherryculture.com, but nyxcosmetics.com was running a really cool deal the other day. Yesterday 100% of the profits made between 12-5pm pst would benefit American Red Cross' Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. As I have family in Japan it was important for me to support this cause and since I can never turn down buying make-up, I decided to participate. Some time down the road, I'll probably make another donation to other charities to support relief efforts in Japan.

What I bought:

  • Single eyeshadows in Wild Fire, Beauty Queen and Pure Gold
  • Jumbo eye pencil in Horse Raddish and Pots & Pans
  • 10 color palette in Smokey Eyes
  • Slim eye pencil in purple and black
  • Soft matte lip cream in Addis Ababa
  • Dual pencil sharpener

I can't wait to try out these products!

Newbury Comics Haul

On March 3, 2011, Newbury Comics had a B1G1 free flash sale on used CDs. I know I'm the only one out there still buying CDs, so I wasn't sure if my fiancĂ© & I would find anything. We went to two different stores and walked away with these fine albums.

  1. Better Than Extra -- Deluxe
  2. Albert Hammond, Jr. -- Como Te Llama
  3. Ratatat -- LP3
  4. No Doubt -- Tragic Kingdom
  5. Semisonic -- Feeling Strangely Fine
  6. Violent Femmes -- Violent Femmes
  7. Phoenix -- Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
  8. Cold War Kids -- Robbers & Cowards
  9. The Sounds -- Dying to Say This to You
  10. Gorillaz -- Gorillaz
  11. Ryan Adams -- Gold
  12. The White Stripes -- Icky Thump
What was the last album you bought in either CD/download form?
